Welcome to La Villana Hostel. It’ll be a pleasure to have you. Here’s a list of things to do while in Santa Marta:

Near Santa Marta

Lost City

Lost city trek. It’s a 4 to 6 day journey into the Sierra Nevada. Tough but wonderful. This is what being off-grid and connected to mother nature is all about. You get to see indigenous communities and in some cases you can share time with them.

Tayrona Beaches

Among more than 100 beaches around, we recommend playa cristal which is the less crowded, and the most beautiful beach (to get there you must take a private ride and a boat), where you can have fresh fish, recharge your energy and do some snorkeling to have a glimpse of coral. Bahia concha is also beautiful and the closest one to the city, but you also need a private ride to get there.

Guajira

Punta Gallinas / Cabo de la Vela. Red sands, blue skies, strong winds, delicious food, cultural and ethnic activities surround this desert-like but beautiful environment. Take a 3 / 2 day tour to visit.

Minca

It’s a little town located in the sierra just 45 min away from Santa Marta. Beautiful landscapes, colder weather, awesome nature, rivers that come from the snow peaks of the sierra, trekking, the organic cacao and coffee farms, all in one place!

Zipline

Zipline at playa blanca. It’s a 10 min boat ride from Santa Marta to a touristic beach where you can spend the day, have fresh fish for lunch and do this new attraction.

Scuba Diving

Scuba diving courses (open water, advanced, rescue, dive master, instructor, fun dives and mini courses). They pick you up at the hostel, have their own boat parked at the international marina which is a few blocks away, and take you to all the coolest places to dive, while keeping an eye on your safety at all times. It includes snacks, transportation (round trip).

Tubing at Don Diego

Tubing at Don Diego River. Close to palomino, it’s a very peaceful river with crystal clear waters, where you walk with a tube up the river and ride down the stream to get a glimpse of iguanas, birds, howling monkeys, ending where the river meets the caribbean ocean!

Paso del Mango

Close to Minca, they also have Cacao tours (learn to make real, pure organic chocolate!), and appreciate nature while at it. Horse back rides and bird watching is a must here!
